self tape – hold ft. blake appelqvist

Self Tape has been crafting explosive electronic tracks for nearly a decade, and his latest release, HOLD, continues that tradition with intoxicating beats, pulsing keys, and honey-soaked vocals from Blake Appelqvist.
Exploring the complexities of rekindling a past love, the track captures the tension and longing between former lovers, amplified by the hypnotic refrain: “You’re in my bed, you’re in my head.” It’s an emotional ride—one you can definitely dance to.
The production is rich and immersive, layering textures reminiscent of Joy Orbison’s signature depth. There’s also a warmth and rhythm here that calls to mind Boo Seeka’s more electronic-driven tracks—but I’ll leave that open for debate.
Rumor has it HOLD is the first taste of an upcoming EP, and if this track is anything to go by, we can’t wait to hear what Self Tape has in store next.
